When is Hypnotherapy Effective? How Do I Choose the Right Hypnotherapist? How Do I Know Hypnotherapy Will Work For Me? Hypnotherapy utilizes a very natural and yet powerful technique of relaxation that allows you to take control of your life and build a brighter more positive future. Hypnotherapy is a state of physical and mental relaxation that enables the subconscious mind to be more receptive to positive suggestions. This allows physical and emotional problems to be addressed and resolved so that mind and body functions can be improved or restored to normal activity. Hypnotherapy helps you to resolve inner blockages, and gently flow through the process of change and recovery. Although the traditional methods such as psychiatry and psychology work, the difference is the brief amount of time that is required to accomplish changes in habits, behaviors, and health through the use of hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy is a client centered therapy process, in which the specific issues of the individual are addressed based on their particular needs, problems, motivations, triggers, and goals. Hypnotherapy reaches and deals with problems of the mind and body. It is a state of mental relaxation in which the critical factor of the conscious mind is set aside to allow the subconscious mind to be receptive to suggestions from your Hypnotherapist. The Hypnotherapist uses a series of repeated instructions to allow the client to achieve a deep state of relaxation. As you become more deeply relaxed the conscious mind is less active and the subconscious is free to explore psychological or emotional issues and to accept positive suggestions to improve mental and/or physical health issues or eliminate negative behavior or habits. Improved mind and body functions can also be utilized to restore health, increase the effectiveness of the immune system, and to control or elevate pain or discomfort. The Hypnotherapist uses statements and suggestions that allows the subconscious mind to become stronger and more effective to deal with whatever problems or behaviors the client is experiencing, wants to change, or eliminate. The changes begin almost immediately because through the increased strength and focus of your subconscious mind you are taking control and are aware of the positive aspects that your changes in behavior will provide to improve your health, happiness and productivity. Hypnotherapy is about helping and improving yourself and is very different from stage hypnosis where people do things that are silly or embarrassing.
Hypnotherapy is effective in changing negative feelings and behaviors. It can eliminate unhealthy or destructive habits, improve physiological and physical health, provide solutions for physical problems and increase an individual’s performance and sense of well being. The National Institute of Medicine and the A.M.A. have endorsed Hypnotherapy as a complimentary therapy. Listed below are examples of situations that respond well to Hypnotherapy. YOU CAN! ELIMINATE: pounds and inches, smoking, stress, insomnia, addictions, phobias, compulsions, ADD & ADHD, side effects from chemotherapy and radiation ENHANCE: learning ability, sales performance, productivity and natural childbirth IMPROVE: immune system, relationships, communication skills, motivation, and study habits CONTROL: compulsions, anger, stress, depression, anxiety and chronic pain (cancer, AIDS, headaches, arthritis, etc.) and chronic illnesses and conditions (IBS, Fibromyalgia, Stuttering, etc) LEARN: self-hypnosis to manage stress, anxiety, and discomfort
It is vitally important that you feel completely comfortable with your Hypnotherapist. When you first call for information, if the Hypnotherapist is unavailable you should ask that they personally return your call to answer all your questions prior to your first appointment. This will assure you that the Hypnotherapist shares your philosophy of healing and recovery. Ascertain that the Hypnotherapist is well trained in your particular area of concern. Ask questions that are important to you, because your questions and beliefs are a vital part of your healing process. It is important to find out what level of certification the Hypnotherapist holds. The least amount of training required for a certification in hypnosis is referred to as the Basic level, the second level is referred to as Advanced, and the third level is referred to as the Master level. The Master level is the highest certification that can be achieved, other than receiving a Doctorate Degree in Hypnotherapy. If there are no Hypnotherapists in your area you may find that if you are comfortable speaking with one over the phone you can discuss your issues and have the Hypnotherapist make specific individualized recordings for you. This can be a very effective tool when distances or inability to travel prevents "one-on-one" sessions. Caution: You will not receive the greatest degree of positive results if the Hypnotherapist uses a pre-recorded or generic type session for everyone with the same problem. It is imperative that your therapist takes the time to establish what makes your problem or situation unique in order for you to achieve the permanent changes and improvements that you desire.
How Do I Know Hypnotherapy Will
Work For Me? Anyone of normal or higher intelligence can be hypnotized. Even young or learning disabled children who are able to listen to a story being told are receptive to Hypnotherapy. Most people are in a state of hypnosis several times a day. When you are daydreaming or loose track of time when you are driving, if you hear a song that takes you back to another time or place you are in a hypnotic state. This "altered state" between waking and sleeping is a perfectly natural state we all go through as we begin to drift off to sleep or when we are extremely relaxed. It is not the "hypnotic state" but the suggestions and instructions which are placed into the subconscious mind while the subject is in a relaxed state of mind that enables and accomplishes change in habits or behaviors. Contrary to most beliefs, it is not necessary to be in a deep state of hypnosis in order to accomplish positive results. In fact, it is quite different from the stage hypnosis that most people may be familiar with. Your therapist does not have "control of your mind" and you will not do anything that you would not choose to do on a conscious level. When you call the C.H.A.N.G.E. administrative office you will usually speak with me, Beverley S. Bley. In addition to my Hypnotherapy Certification I am a Licensed Practical Nurse. I became a Certified Hypnotherapist in January 1995, went on to pursue the Advanced Level and I am presently certified at the Master Level of Hypnotherapy. I am in general practice full time and have been successful in all areas of Hypnotherapy. I am a member of The National Guild of Hypnotists, The American Board of Hypnotherapy, The National Board of Hypnotherapy and Hypnotic Anesthesia, The National Association of Transpersonal Hypnotherapist and I am also an active member of my local Chamber of Commerce. If I am with a client at the time you call you may leave a message with my secretary or on my answering machine and I will return your call as soon as I am free. You can also send an E-mail message detailing your problem and what you would like to achieve and I will tell you what I think your possibility of success is and we’ll schedule a consultation by phone to discuss your issues as if you were sitting in my office. After compiling the appropriate information concerning your problem I will make a series of specific individualized tapes that enable you to reach your goals. The tapes are usually two sided, with one being audible voice and the other being subliminal music. It is vitally important that we stay in touch to evaluate your progress because most problems/issues need to be reinforced over a period of at least a month. It is scientifically proven that it takes 28 to 32 days to change or eliminate a behavior or habit. Therefore, depending on your progress your tapes may need to be changed or updated during that time. You will only be charged for the tapes that I make for you. There is no charge for your initial consultation. You may make payment with a personal check, money order or any major credit card. All it takes to achieve positive results that can last a lifetime is your desire to C.H.A.N.G.E. So don’t wait any longer!!!
