Is your “Mainspring” sprung? Are you always in the wrong pace at the wrong “Time" Allow yourself to learn how to manage and alleviate stress in your personal and professional life. Exploring ways to handle situations over which you have NO control and acquiring new communication techniques that eliminate the stress and fears of confrontations reduce stress and anxiety. Utilizing strategies that allow your mind and body to work together in unison and harmony enhances the health, happiness and productivity in your life. Stress has been defined as: a state of increased alertness or activation of the body systems which would be involved in the “flight or fight” syndrome. This promotes physical stress related responses that include: fatigue, increased heart rate, muscle tension, elevated blood pressure and an increase or lack of appetite. Other physiological changes may result in lack of motivation, procrastination, trouble focusing and an increased inability to follow through or complete tasks. The Positive Effects of Relaxation and Visualization Although you may not be able to alter your environment, you do have the ability to change your reaction to it. Relaxation and/or visualization are techniques which have been identified as beneficial in managing stress and therefore preventing “Burn Out”. These techniques incorporate systematic muscle group relaxation, focused attention, positive suggestions and visualization. These techniques have been shown to produce significant changes in the body exactly opposite to those produced in response to stress. |
